Handcrafted in New Orleans from locally harvested Louisiana Sinker Cypress, each board carries its own story—rich in color, character, and history. Known for its distinctive grain and lightweight durability, Sinker Cypress creates a truly one-of-a-kind piece that blends function with Southern heritage.

What’s with the name?

The Atchafalaya Basin is the nation’s largest river swamp, containing almost one million acres of America’s most significant bottomland hardwoods, swamps, bayous, and backwater lakes. 

Cool water perfectly preserves what is known as sinker logs, which lay on river bottoms for hundreds of years. These magnificent sinker cypress and sinker pine logs are considered to be buried treasure because once recovered, they yield the richest patina of any wood.

The goal of board oil and conditioner is to saturate the wood fibers, in order to stop any other liquids (blood, bacteria) and moisture from soaking into the board. A well-oiled cutting board will not warp and will keep its shape.
